[REVIEW] Finally, in Love Again: Shuichiro Momoi season 1 Main Story

FILA Momoi Shuichiro main story

Momoi is the head pastry chef at Patisserie Larme. He does his job well, and knows it; he’s extremely confident in himself, and that confidence shows in his personality. He comes off as tactless and sometimes says things that are just rude. However, he recognizes talent when he sees it, and recruits the MC to be a patissier with him at Larme.

The MC starts working at Larme, and goes through training under Momoi to learn the basics of how Larme operates and what flavors they make. After a few days, they hold a welcoming party for her, and Aki asks the MC to enter the “Top-Notch Pastry Chef” competition as Larme’s representative. She agrees, but the concept is something that she has a hard time finding ideas for: a cake that will make young lovers happy.

After catching her at another singles’ event, Momoi offers to be her boyfriend for a day so she can remember what it’s like to be in love again. He insists, saying that he doesn’t want her to make Larme look bad, so they end up going to a date at an amusement park. Her first attempt fails though, and Momoi insists that he’s going to be her boyfriend until she comes up with the perfect cake for the competition.

Momoi reminds me of those kids who tease the girls they like to. He’ll be mean to the MC, and then will suddenly do something nice that’ll have her wondering why he’s acting the way he is. Their arguments in the beginning are hilarious, and I loved watching them go back and forth at each other XD

I liked the overall route, but if you compare it to Aki’s routes, it felt like they were lacking in something. While Aki’s route focused more on the age gap, I think Momoi’s route focused more on the MC’s professional growth as a patissier. Not that I’m saying that every route in this game should have its main focus on the MC worrying about the age gap, but Momoi’s route definitely fell a bit short after Aki’s route (kind of like Nao and Yuya in First Love Diaries). I probably would’ve enjoyed Momoi’s route more if I had played it before Aki’s.

Another thing I didn’t like was the lack of romance in this route. Based on the age of the MC (34), this is a game that’s aimed toward an older audience, but Momoi and the MC didn’t even kiss until the end. Once again, I’m not saying that every route has to have a one-night stand *cough*Aki*cough*, but I think the route could have been written better to accommodate more romance. I definitely liked Momoi’s character though, and hopefully his sequel will have more romance. Happy playing!

    • Sorry for the late reply! I think his latter stories have better writing, but personally I feel that Aki, Yoh, Yuto, and Kanata have the best writing for this game overall ^w^
