It’s been a while everyone! Sorry for not posting in a (very) long time, life has been keeping me busy with graduation, starting work, and moving to Japan!! I was actually scheduled to leave Japan soon after I got here for a business trip, but that got pushed off… giving me the opportunity to take the train up to Chiba and go to Tokyo Game Show for a day! …. this time for real, I promise! ^^;;
I apologize for not posting at all this year. As I mentioned in a previous post, someone in my family passed away early on in this year and 2016 in general has not been very kind to me.
However, I do think I’m in a better place right now and I’ve slowly started to ease myself back into otoge!
I definitely won’t be able to write as many reviews in a short time like I did when I first started this blog, but I will be posting more regularly. I’ll also be reorganizing my blog as I contemplate what direction I want to go with it in the future.
To those of you who waited patiently, thank you for doing so! I was expecting this blog to be dead but my follower count has barely changed and I’m surprisingly still getting regular amounts of views. Thank you for your continued visits! I’ve gotten a bit rusty in writing reviews, but I’ll do my best in writing them! ( ´ ▽ ` )
The weather is starting to get colder where I live so I hope everyone stays warm as the holiday season approaches! （‐＾▽＾‐）
First of all, my apologies for not posting for a month! Life has been busy with uni and work ; A ;
I’d like to announce some changes in how I’ll be running this blog. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about this for the past week ^^
I love running this blog since it’s a hobby but at some point it turned into a chore. I started to put off playing stories because I didn’t want to deal with writing reviews on top of my already busy workload ; A ; I love writing reviews, but it started to feel like an obligation so I’ve thought of how I can change things so I can still enjoy playing routes and writing about them.
My main focus was on Voltage Inc’s games but I’ve been wanting to branch out for a while. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to because of their (ridiculously) fast-paced release schedule ; A ; After pondering on it, I’ve decided my main priority for Voltage reviews/walkthroughs will shift from all stories to new characters, then season 1 sequels. Not to say that I won’t do reviews for stories in later seasons! If I find extra time I most definitely will ^^ I think most interest is in new characters since many people want to read a few opinions before deciding to buy their stories and since this blog is a source of information for you guys, I want to deliver in this aspect. I also feel that season 1 stories give me a good idea of what to expect from a character’s stories for the rest of the game; there have been instances where I’ve been wrong, but Voltage has usually been predictable in their character tropes and what issues they’ll tackle and the level of writing throughout a character’s stories is usually consistent as well (once again, this is true for most, but not all characters; I’ve been wrong before *coughs*Chiaki*coughs*).
I’ll be trying to get into mobile otoges developed by other companies as well! My main interests for now are NTT Solmare’s Shall we date? series, D3 Publisher’s Forbidden Romance series, and games developed by Genius LLC. Hopefully I’ll be able to get to them soon… I’ve been eying War of Prayers and Life is Beautiful for a while ^^
In regards to Vita games, I’ve decided I won’t write walkthroughs for these. They’re a lot more difficult to make walkthroughs for since the storylines often break often into multiple endings that are influenced by choices you make throughout the entire route, which are often much longer compared to mobile games. There are also many existing walkthroughs that you can find with a quick google search ^^ My reviews for these games will be for each character, then the game as a whole. Character reviews will be written as soon as I finish all endings for a character, and overall game reviews once I’ve cleared all endings for all characters ^^ The first game you should expect to see reviews for is Amnesia (sorry Hakuouki… my replay + reviews will have to be pushed back a bit ; w ; )
I’ll also be opening up to review requests! You can find more information here ^^
I think this covered most of what I had to say. I hope everyone is comfortable with the changes ^___^;;
I know I said I would post reviews after mid-December but there’s been a lot of things that have been going on in my personal life that got in the way of this.
I’m really apologetic to you guys and I thank you for your patience. I’m really thankful you guys visit this little blog of mine and read what I have to say about these characters or use the walkthroughs I take the time to make. It started as a hobby but it means a lot to me now and I can’t express how thankful I am.
I’m probably either going to announce another haitus or just throw myself into these games for a while. I don’t know yet.
For those of you who would like a more in depth explanation, there’s more under the cut. Continue reading
This blog has been dead for most of December… I apologize ; w ;
The good news is, finals are over and uni has broke for break! 😀
I’m currently in a rush trying to finish Final Fantasy Type-0 before I part from my PS4 and go home this Wednesday so please don’t expect anything before then ^__^;;
I’ve already finished playing Riku’s main story! He’ll be the first review I’ll publish as soon as I get back home.
My current goal for this break is one review every one or two days. I’ll be working through my Voltage backlog by game and will also be replaying Hakuouki so I can finally get reviews up for it ^^ After I finish Hakuouki, it’ll be Amnesia! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be diligent enough to fit in Code:Realize and Norn9 as well but we’ll see how it goes ^__^;;
Uni starts up again in the last week of January for me but I head back a week earlier so I can work so that’s when you’ll probably see my post rate die a little… Next semester is looking a lot easier compared to the last one so I won’t disappear off the face of the earth for long periods of time (I think //laughs nervously)
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season! Merry Christmas >w<
Hi there everyone!
I’m sorry for spending such a long time away from this blog. Life has been hectic and I didn’t even realize its been a month since I last posted something until someone pointed it out. I apologize to those who are waiting for reviews and walkthroughs ㅠ___ㅠ
I’ve finished Yuma’s main story but haven’t found the time to write his review yet. Hopefully I’ll have it up by this weekend ; w ;
I’m announcing a semi-haitus until mid-December. I have too many projects and papers piling up and I’m doubting I’ll have a lot of time to play otome games until the semester ends (if you didn’t know, I prefer playing a whole story through in one sitting because it gives me a better sense of pace and story flow, but unfortunately my schedule isn’t allowing for it lately).
I’ll still be posting news posts. For those wanting to know in advance, my goals for winter break are covering my Voltage backlog, finishing my Hakuoki replay, and getting through Amnesia, Code:Realize and maybe Norn9. I’d like to start playing mobile games by other companies next year so hopefully I’ll be able to do so after finishing up on what I’m planning on catching up on.
I’ll try to squeeze in a few stories during this time but please don’t be expecting much (I’ll probably be able to get a few in during Thanksgiving break).I’m a student and running this blog is my hobby, but ultimately school and real life responsibilities come first. You guys are awesome with your patience and thank you for being understanding!
I realized it’s been a year since I made my first post on this blog! (It’s easy to remember since it’s 8/16 xD )
I’m blown away by how far I’ve come in just one year! 180 reviews, 398 posts, and 500k+ views in just one year?!
When I first started this blog, I did it out of hobby. It was just a personal way to reflect on the stories that I read and a way to organize my thoughts. I never expected it to become so big, and I’m thankful from the bottom of my heart that all of you wonderful people come to this site and find my reviews and walkthroughs helpful. There were many times when I was extremely busy and felt that I should stop updating this blog, but your questions, comments, and likes encouraged and helped me decide to continue this blog (despite my slow update speed ; w ; )
Thank you for an amazing year! While the past year has been mostly focused on Voltage, I’m hoping this year that I’ll be able to branch out and write about games from other companies as well. Routes from D3, Solmare, and Genius games are sitting waiting to be played on my phone, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this year I’ll be able to find the time to play them! I’m also excited about new games that are being released as well; we’re seeing three PS Vita game releases in English this fall, and I’m super excited about this since the Vita seems to be the platform of choice for otome games in Japan and hopefully this signals that companies are starting to show interest in the overseas market! Which means more great games are going to be translated and brought over to us ^w^
Once again, thank you so much for your visiting to this blog! Here’s to another great one!
I came back a few days earlier than I thought I would, and while I’m still busy moving into my new place and settling down, I’ll try my best to start writing reviews and walkthroughs again as soon as possible!
I ended up being more busy than I thought I would and my free time was unexpectedly taken up by other things (*cough*Tales of Hearts R and Natsume Yuujinchou*cough*) but I’ll be tackling my otome backlog soon! Voltage has been relentless with releases in the month that I was gone, so please be patient as I go through June’s releases since my summer classes will also be starting soon and Voltage is probably going to release a lot of stuff in July too ^____^;;
I hope everyone had a great month!
“Ah, my deepest apologies. My lady will be taking a leave for a while, and won’t be back until July. I hope this doesn’t cause you any trouble, but if it does alarm you, all of the princes are ready to entertain you in her her absence.”
Hi everyone! Like Zain said (pfft), starting from now to the end of June, I’m going to be heading off to do my super secret training (lol not really) required by my scholarship every summer break.
I’ll be on and off a ship at that time, and if you didn’t know, there’s no internet out on sea (well, there is but I’m not sure if I’ll have access to it). So it’ll be a month long break away from voltage games for me. I’ll definitely do my best to catch up as soon as I get back in July, but until then you’ll be seeing little to none of me in the next month (depending on whether I get internet access or not). I tried to get Yakov’s main story, Takashi’s main story, and Baba’s Twist of Fate routes in before I left, but I was busy with finals and packing my stuff for storage and travel over the summer, so unfortunately they’ll have to wait until after my break ; A ;
I’m planning on finishing Hakuouki on my 3DS, and maybe getting around to playing Dandelion and Nameless on my computer on my spare time out at sea. I’ll also try to get a few Shall we date? games done as well. Until then, CGs/reviews/walkthroughs will be put on hold until July, so please be patient! I’ll post what games I do finish during this haitus as soon as I get back or if I get internet access before then.
I hope everyone has a great summer! (enjoy that unlimited internet for me ; w ; )
After the success of My Forged Wedding, why wouldn’t Voltage try to make more money off the concept that their top moneymaker was based on? Like My Forged Wedding, My Wedding and 7 Rings is based on the situation of being in a “fake” marriage and ending up with genuine feelings for one another in the end. However, unlike MFW, where the MC and the male leads try their best not fall for each other, MWA7R takes the situation and twists it so that the goal is for the two to develop genuine and long-lasting feelings for each other.
